One of the most humbling and most rewarding things for me as a photographer, is to have other artists themselves inspired by my work. I have been blessed to work with so many amazing artists out there and to build art together, is so god damn cool. Collaboration is a beautiful thing and may it always continue to work wonders in my life as an artist and the artists around me.

This beautiful lady Alida here is an amazing writer and poet inspired by the stories of her past, her body and being a womxn. @priestessofgoodvibes on instagram, Alida is pairing her boudoir photos with beautiful and amazing writing enhancing the beauty of both the photos and the writing so elegantly. Poetry that cuts to your soul. Stories shared that give you perspective and writing that is so profound and transformative.

I am honored and excited for all our upcoming shoots to help her keep creating her art. We have already had two amazing shoots! Here is the first one with some of my favorite pieces of writing she has paired with this session. I cannot wait to keep reading her words <3 Follow her along on her journey.

PRIESTESS OF GOOD VIBES

I’ll be honest
It won’t ever be simple to be my friend
I will challenge
Dare you to see yourself
As the exquisite powerhouse
Of raw energy you are
I will ask you to give everything
Push when you might otherwise bend
Prioritize your dreams
In return
I will give back everything
I will walk with you
For however long you will have me
Show you everyday
You are limitless
And you
You are loved

PASSENGER

It was on the train
A rare sunny Seattle day
I wore lipstick
Unusual for me
But I’m always trying new things
Stretching and growing
Into my wings
I caught your eye
You stuck in your old ways
Starring at girls hungrily
Plucking out our feathers
Everyday
Touching yourself through sweatpants
Everyone else looking away
I smudged that lipstick
Right off my face
Ashamed
As another man hopped on
He too
Snatched a fistful of feathers
Laying claim
So I stopped taking the train
Unusual for me
But I’m always trying new things
At least that’s what I tell myself
Even if it hollows me out a little more
With each passing day
Leaving me bare
Afraid

AT WORLD’S END

I wonder who I might grab
The ones to help me survive
And the ones who will color
The world beautiful again
After ash and ruin
The phoenixes to our collective
Keep us human
As we navigate the dark
Remind us of song and dreams
Of magic and wonder
Because we will always need them
Not just the hunters, the gatherers
But also the artists and magicians

COMBUSTION

You showed up here
Expecting a pile of pebbles
But you tripped and fell
Now look up from the foot
Of a mountain
You claim me emotional
Irrational
But let me tell you how
This shit will go down
You can call me a slut, whore, bitch
Shame, burn, pillage
My body and those of my sisters
But that ash keeps on piling
Hardening
Someday
What you’ve been stacking
Will birth fire
And that mountain
Will rage
Destroying everything
So I implore you please
Stop
Rise with
Not against me

 A LOVE STORY Part 2

You don’t notice
Or maybe you do
I wake up early on Saturdays
For you
To make coffee
Open our blinds
Because I know it’s these
Little things you love
Brightening our lives
We met at such a strange time
My life flipped
People collateral damage
To the ruin I was attempting
To redefine
But you smiled
Reminded
Happiness was mine
If I willed it
You showed me
How to foster it
So I leaned in
To the one thing I was terrified of
Giving my heart
To a boat captain
But now it all makes sense
Because my mind
Is a colorful ocean
Sometimes raging
Sometimes calm
You’re unafraid
Ready and willing to navigate it
I lean in still
Welcoming the best love story
To ever come across my life
Our Saturdays together
My favorite time
You
The love of my life

HUNTER

I was born
Into the hands of man
But however hard they tried
To train me
Told me to stay
To smile
Dress pretty
I disobeyed
I was different
So into the woods I fled
Footsteps carrying me
Faster and deeper
Till I found myself
On all fours
Running
As I was always
Meant to be
I was not alone
For others joined
Alongside me
Howling
My sisterhood
A family
Man fought
To take from me
The wild
Our home
Surrounding
Unrest
But ready
As we emerged
Marching out
Onto to the streets
Taught the others
How to run
We were your
Greatest fear
Devouring
Setting
Others free
As we were
Always meant

DEAR MEN

You won’t understand ever
How I let the hunger for you
Swallow me whole
Later spit me out
Over and over
And I allowed it
My own self worth
Nonexistent
Caught
Ensnared by the praise
Of never being alone
A Miscallibrated view
Reinforced
Of my place
How I as a woman
Am condemned to survive
Navigate this great big world

PHOENIX

I’ve been asked to reconsider
Forgive
But how can I
When what’s happened
Will forever mark me
Is the thickest chapter yet
In my story
Ink bleeding into all the other chapters
I had to teach myself
To duel with dragons
While others
Played in sandboxes daydreaming
The wildfire scorched
The valley of my being
Leaving me to starve for years
Now that I’m your age
Empathy lingers
Lurks questioningly
I notice you’re no longer
Those ferocious beasts
Because when you left me
I closed my eyes
Became something mightier
Reborn from ash with wings
While you withered and aged
I decided your fire was
No longer allowed to harm me
The power of the wild
Found and revived my body
And while you tore out all the
Almost memories
Of what a childhood could be
I was watching
Noticing this war expanding
Bleeding across other stories
Our world
Full of adults harming
Little children in sandboxes
Suffering, no longer daydreaming
So I will hold onto
The anger, this rage
Pour it into the fire that flies out of me
I will duel with their dragons
And any other monsters I meet
Till every last breathe
Reborn over and over again
Until this is fixed
Maybe then I can rest
Allow myself to forgive what’s happened

LEAD WITH KINDNESS

We all need
Grace
We all need
To give grace
Because as we
Wander
We don’t know
Who’s secretly breaking
Careening
And our words
Are power
A reminder
Of love
Of strength
And we all
Need that sometimes
Perhaps
All the time honestly

ACTIVATE

When it happened
So many of us broke down
In living rooms, at parties
Lyft rides home
But we underestimated
The crack in our system
Had also released
A power long dormant
For when we woke
We no longer accepted business as usual
A movement
Born out of a terrible moment
History may recall him
But it will teach of the uprising

HESITATE

I want it to be easy
To say hello
Without wondering
What your reciprocation
Intention
Response
Will be
For you could easily perceive
My approach
As an offer of sex
Leading you to believe
You have a right to my body
A most
Unfortunate thing
Society
Doesn’t mind
Contributing
To this grooming
Of a man’s ownership
“She approached me first”
Equaling
plausible deniability
If he’s caught when
Harming me
