Maddie and Nathan, engaged sommeliers.
Did you know that sommelier was initially known in French as a butler? Well, madame, garçon, I need you and your best wine pairings please. 😉
I also used to be so naïve and think sommeliers weren’t really a thing. I was a child, so understanding that seems pretty fair (good job Mom and Dad) So growing up, when I would hear or see sommeliers, I was just fascinated. This job that was never a job, but always a job and now that I am clearly of drinking age, I just think it’s the coolest damn thing ever. There is PURE art to wine. There is honestly art to every alcohol really and how it’s made, but wine feels like it’s on another level. What surprises me more, is the sheer knowledge sommeliers have! Like, the best of the best can name the countries, regions, Vineyards, and even the YEAR it was bottled. That a magician if you ask me…
In the hear of the PNW, near Maddie’s childhood home, we met by the sound for some engagement photos. Although these two are sommeliers, we did not use wine as a prop in this engagement session. However they did chug a Rainier- so on track for an engagement session. Sometimes you need a mid-way boost to finish out strong. These two have traveled south through northern California, Napa area, to live out their wine dreams. I visited Maddie in Norther CA when I was traveling in my van and it was a delight. She, at the time, was in private house on a vineyard and the views we’re so stunning I am kicking myself for not taking more photos.
They’re basically the cutest little couple ever and are also dear friends of mine.
