One of my very first real clients was my cousins and her Husband.
Year and years ago. We walked around downtown Bellingham, taking all the cool photos of them in semi creepy, art-filled alleyways. The, she hired me again years laster for another session with her and her husband. This time we went to Larabee State park, not too far away from downtown Bellingham. Then again, we did maternity photos when this was just a loaf in the oven at their first home and nearby park, not too far from downtown. And then again, to this one, my beautiful little second cousin at almost 4 years old, at their new home, again, not too far from downtown.
Over the year she has always told me that she doesn’t hire me because we’re family, but it’s because I genuinely love your photos. 🙂 The absolute best compliment I could get! I love that I get to photograph these moments in my family’s life. It reminds me of the importance of documenting time and moment with your family. Even if it’s small, or on your phone, or a small camera, documenting these moments are timeless.
One day I’ll be 60 years old, and we’ll have to make an “album over the years” with all the photos, and future photos, I will take of my loved ones. It’ll be one of my favorite photos projects ever. Thousands of photos and years later, the most epic photo album will happen. Milestones in photography that are not centered around business are pure joy!
