Earlier this year I decided to do something special and give back once I reached 2,000 followers on Instagram! I was honestly surprised at how fast the number grew having starting the account in mid 2018, but what I loved most was how I had a community of people who loved, respected and connected deeply with my work. I have had very little rude/inappropriate comments on this account and on my photos and of the humans and bodies I share and I thought that was something worth celebrating. I decided to give away one free outdoor session to any womxn, man or couple who won from the random drawing. I had people comment why they wanted to do boudoir, tag of their friends who might be interested in a free session as well, and wait to see if they were selected once the drawing was over!
Serenity here, casted her name and commented separately on the thread saying how much she loved this and wanted to offer whoever won free hair and makeup! I thought- how damn sweet, watch her win because she’s giving back and guess what?! The girl won and I was so happy about it! After a program in my computer randomly told me she had won I was excited to tell her of the goods news! Serenity and her fiancé, Jesse drove all the way down to Tacoma early one morning for their session and absolutely killed it.
Doing a session like this out in nature is one of the best things you can do. Not only are you connecting to yourself, your body and your truth, but you are connecting to the most real and raw thing out there, nature.
So, in the midst of me now reaching 3,000, I have decided to do this again but for a different reason. As some of you know, or who have gathered by now, I have been struggling with my mental health recently and just life in general. I plan to go more into detail with you all one day soon, but to keep things short, things were not good there for a while and I felt like I was spiraling and drowning. But… then some amazing things happened like Burning Man, going back to therapy, backpacking and friendship and the Impossible Boudoir Project and slowly things have started to feel better, slowly I am starting to feel better.
I know one thing is for sure, when I am giving, I feel my best and the most myself. So, in honor of 3,000, you all, my mental health, gratitude and the spirit of giving… I am having another giveaway for a free outdoor session!
